When I was 9 yrs old, I came flying in from trying to take out the garbage and told mom that a possum was in the bottom of the trash can "with its guts hanging out" turns out mama gave birth -- they were moving around in the pouch -- guess she figured it was as safe as place as any...we did not move her. On a weird note an acquaintance had one as a PET -- THIS CREATURE WAS OBSESE -- not potty-trained. Extremely disturbing. Fortunately I only went to the house once. That was enough for me...
I always picture possums being little romantic creatures with tiny clothes, good manners, and drinking tea in children's story books.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes forget they look just like the subway rats of NYC.
That's why they have to be romantic and well-mannered, sipping tea with their tiny human hands.
ReplyDeleteDid you at least try inviting it for dinner?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was having sauteed garbage, but I guess the bastard was shy.
